By Bruce Felps The video embedded at the top of this post comes courtesy of photographic — and now video-graphic — contributor Lilia Estrada, resident of the Lower Greenville Avenue area. She attended and recorded the fireworks show at Fair Park, and from the looks of things it was fairly spectacular.

By Bruce Felps I had hoped to bring back a fairly nice photomontage of shots from last night’s fireworks show over Lakewood Country Club. [sigh] Alas, it’s not to be. I would say I have the photographic talent of a brain-damaged orangutan but that would bring a libel suit from the Brain-Damaged Orangutan Protector and [...]

By Bruce Felps Community member Rob Chickering kindly shared photos he took of yesterday’s Lakewood Fourth of July Parade. He and his family had a curbside view of the proceedings so he proceeded to snap multiple shots, some of parade participants and some of parade spectators. Many thanks to Mr. Chickering for letting us in [...]

By Bruce Felps Gigi Ekstrom of Lakehill Preparatory School forwarded, oh, a whole lot of photos from yesterday’s Lakewood Fourth of July Parade. Sarah Rich chronicled the event and snapped all the photos contained herein. The images depict the Lakehill school’s preparation for the procession and march along the route. It’s the Warriors’ way.

The crowd spilled into the park, grabbed [...]

By Bruce Felps Lakewood resident Scott Booth, who owns Lone Star Photography, attended and chronicled this morning’s Lakewood Fourth of July Parade. He kindly shared some of his photos from the procession, and here’s a little taste of the full gallery of his work to come a bit later in the week.

By Bruce Felps Enjoy the Fourth of July holiday. Be safe, be happy, and be appreciative of your freedoms, particularly your freedom from work today. See you at the parade after-party this morning and the fireworks show tonight.

By Bruce Felps Dinner last evening at the new Dodie’s location — also open for lunch now by the way — revealed another prime watching spot for tomorrow night’s fireworks show. In addition to the view from the Whole Foods-Lakewood parking lot, the streets surrounding Lakewood Country Club, and the parking lot outside Ali Baba’s, the [...]

By Bruce Felps OK, the long Independence Day weekend starts in about an hour for some of us, a little latter for the rest of us, and of course, this weekend is all about the Fourth of July. The forecast: mostly parade-y with a 100 percent chance of lit-up night sky Monday. Undoubtedly, there will [...]

By Bruce Felps The Great Earth Experiment — a band made up of Woodrow students — will provide musical entertainment for the community during the after-party of the Lakewood Fourth of July Parade. The band includes mandolin player Sam Shearin, who portrayed Danny in the spring musical production of “Grease,” and guitarist Gus Miller, who joined [...]
