By Bruce Felps Hexter Elementary School earned a place on the Texas Business and Education Coalition Honor Roll for 2011. The award came from Hexter’s three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations.

By Bruce Felps The Stonewall Jackson Elementary School Math Club gets under way Thursday morning for the new-ish school year. Organized by Stonewall’s Dad’s Club, the Math Club helps students sharpen their ciphering skills through engaging game-like lessons. The club convenes at 7:30 a.m., Sept 29, in classrooms designated for specific grades.

By Bruce Felps Dylan Bumford, the Woodrow Wilson High School valedictorian of 2006, recently earned top honors and a financial award for his undergraduate thesis at the University of Texas. Bumford, now a linguistics major, won the grand prize in the George H. Mitchell Student Awards for Academic Excellence competition.

Community Contribution The 2011 graduating class from Lakehill Preparatory School totaled 32 seniors. Those 32 seniors collected 170 acceptance letters from 100 different universities.
