Stonewall to Dedicate New Play Area
Community Contribution
Through the fundraising efforts of the Stonewall Jackson PTA, the school upgraded this year to a new white “blacktop” on which students play and learn.
A ribbon cutting ceremony takes place at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 4, at the school to officially acknowledge the completion of this two-year long PTA-commissioned project.
Students, staff, parents, and state Rep. Dan Branch, acting as Principal for the Day, will all be in attendance.
The new layout of the blacktop includes a high school regulation basketball court with four new basketball goals, regulation size four-square courts, tetherball courts, which use three new tetherball poles, and a map of the United States painted by the Dallas ISD Grounds Division.
Generally, a project of this size would require an outside donor, but the Stonewall PTA raised 100 percent of the funds for the blacktop project.
Thanks to Abra Garrett, Stonewall Jackson publicity chairwoman, for providing the words.
