Lakehill Preparatory School recently announced the National Merit semifinalists for the class of 2012.
Two seniors, Ruth Godbey and Brandon Kinard, have been awarded this distinguished honor.
More than 1.5 million juniors in nearly 22,000 high schools entered the 2011 National Merit Program by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or PSAT.
The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $36 million.
“These students represent some of the most academically talented in the country,” said Headmaster Roger Perry. “We join our teachers and their proud parents in congratulating them for this highly esteemed academic honor.”
