LH Plans Octoberfest Bash
By Bruce Felps
The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands puts on its first community celebration of Octoberfest just as the calendar changes over to October. Timing is everything.
The near-daylong festivities run from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Oct. 1, at the Lake Highlands Town Center, southeast corner of Skillman Street and Walnut Hill Lane.
Admission to the party is free, and tickets will be available for food, beer, and games.
Area restaurants The Grape, Kuby’s, Urban Crust, Eat the World, Fat Daddy’s, Enchiladas, Pop It, and the Exchange Club Snack Tent and Smoker will sell food along with Samuel Adams beer and Coca-Cola.
Tickets for the VIP Samuel Adams Biergarten cost $50 per person and include a T-shirt, beer stein, and food. Beer can be purchased for $5.
Oktoberfest includes entertainment and games for all ages, including bounce houses, pony rides, a petting zoo, carnival games, Euro bungee, and face painting.
Matt Tolentino and the Royal Klobasneks, STV Almrausch, and Doc Flohr’s Oktoberfest Band perform throughout the day, and the Lake Highlands High School cheerleaders, Highlandettes, and Wranglers also plan special appearances.
All proceeds benefit local charities such as the Child Abuse Prevention Center of Dallas.
Oompa, baby.
