Stonewall Set to Start SBDM Year
By Bruce Felps
The school year’s first meeting of the Stonewall Jackson Elementary School Site-Based Decision Making Committee is ready to kick off the group’s 2011-12 efforts.
SBDM meets at 6 p.m., Sept. 1 — and the first Thursday of subsequent months — in the Stonewall library.
By way of refresher, the state requires SBDM groups at public schools. Membership comes from volunteer parents, community leaders, teachers, and administrators focused on improving a school’s overall performance and community standing.
Stonewall’s SBDM organization, according to co-chairman Alex Rapp, plans to focus on “TEA ratings and acceptable test accountability, computer technology curriculum, continued connectivity with our feeder middle school, J.L. Long, and address any issues or concerns that you might have,” as he wrote in a letter to parents.
Natalie Clarkson serves as co-chairwoman.
