Sailing, Sailing, over the Bounding Lake
By Bruce Felps
Watch the sails unfurl and the centerboard vessels take to the waters of White Rock Lake this weekend.
The Corinthian Sailing Club engages in its 10th annual Leukemia Cup Regatta to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society — donations welcome — to fund research to fight leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma.
Stake out a spot along the shores of White Rock — the Corinthian Club docks will be restricted to race participants and officials — and watch the full-sail boats skim the waters for a good cause. Kind of an awe-inspiring view as well.
First starter’s gun sounds at 10 a.m., April 30, with additional races to follow immediately after the first heat and again after lunch.
They’re off again at 9 a.m., May 1, throughout the morning, with no race starting later than 12:30 p.m.

Enjoy the sailing scene and then amble over to the White Rock Lake Festival, just down the shoreline. Saturday, 4/30 from 10am-8pm and Sunday, 5/1 from 10am – 7pm. What a combo!
