C.C. Young retirement center seems to always offer up a little free something-something to the community, particularly members of the community 55 years and older.

The center rolls out a two-month long series of various educational and recreational activities starting Friday and running from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., each Friday of January and February at The Point, Center for Arts and Education.

It’s called Adventures in Learning and it’s presented, free, in conjunction with the Greater Lakewood Shepherd’s Center. People can go for the entire day or just one session of the series.

Each day begins with registration and social time at 9 a.m.

Opening day activities, Jan. 7, include a travelogue of Ethiopia presented by Judy Coronas from 10-10:45 a.m.

An intermediate-to-advanced Spanish lesson follows in one meeting room while a series titled Reflections on our Experiences and Goals focuses on “Once — A Ritual of Remembering, ‘I will never forget the time I …’ ” takes place from 11-11:45 a.m., in a different room.

Lunch — bring the main course and C.C. Young provides the drinks and desserts — runs from noon-12:30 p.m.

Then a magician entertains from 12:30-1:15 p.m. A bridge game break outs in one room and a review of watercolor paintings takes place in another at 1:30 p.m. to end the Jan. 7 sessions.
