Taking a Chance

By Bruce Felps

Promise of Peace Community Garden stages a benefit concert early February to help fund its ongoing mission of reducing, perhaps eliminating, teen pregnancy and gang involvement among students at Woodrow Wilson High School.

The show, featuring Hollywood-Santa Monica resident Kelly Brown and Local Honey along with The Complications, takes place Feb. 3 at Lakewood Theater. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the downbeat drops at 8 p.m.

Billed as “Give Peace a Chance,” the concert also serves as a tribute to John Lennon. The evening includes free munchies and a silent auction.

Speaking of the silent auction, garden Executive Director Elizabeth Dry seeks items to include in the bidding. Contact her to make a donation.

Tickets cost $25 and are available at the theater’s website.
