Celebrating Holidays, Anniversary
By Bruce Felps
December contains not only the bulk of the winter holidays — Christmas, Hanukkah, Islamic New Year, Ashura, Kwanzaa, and New Year’s Eve … that about cover it? — but also the 10th anniversary of Café Lago opening its doors.
In honor of the multiple celebrations, Gabriela Kovacic and the crew plan a few special events.
Kerri Arista — who launched her musical career at Café Lago — marks the release of her new record, called “50 Ways,” Dec. 10 with a vocal and guitar performance during the dinner hours.
Friends Evening, a celebration of tight relationships and the season, occurs during evening hours, as you might except from the name, Dec. 22. Carolyn Jones lays down the jazz, and the staff serves up the wine and tapas.
Christmas Eve brunch runs from 9 a.m.-2p.m., and it includes a three-course menu and free Poinsettias — cranberry-fizzy drinks, not plants.
The café operates on a business-as-usual schedule New Year’s Eve and a New Year’s Day brunch schedule, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., featuring a black-eyed peas soup.
And let’s not forget the birthday celebration for the restaurant. It takes place Dec. 26 with free birthday cake for all.
