Grant Provides New Books for Lakehill Library
Community Contribution
Lakehill Preparatory Lower School librarian Casey Pike keeps a running wish list of books she would like to have in the library.
News of a recent gift from the Powell Foundation for the Lower School library meant that one of those wishes could come true — a set of World Almanac state books.
“It was such a wonderful surprise to learn that a gift of this magnitude had been made to our Lower School library,” Pike said. “I immediately knew how to spend it.”
Each year, fourth-grade students create a state notebook, and it is essential for them to have several resources to successfully complete their reports.
“A complete set of state books has been on my wish list for a long time,” Pike said.
The Powell Foundation’s gift allowed Lakehill to purchase a set of World Almanac state books, 51 in all.
“These books will be used by all the Lower School grade levels and will be a great resource for years to come.”
This is the second year that Lakehill has received funding from the Powell Foundation. Last year’s grant provided science equipment for the Lower School.
Thanks to Gigi Ekstrom, Lakehill’s director of marketing and community relations, for providing the words and picture.
