Thursdays to Get Cool Again
by Bruce Felps
After a hiatus during the blazing heat of August, the Cool Thursdays concert series at the Dallas Arboretum fires up again Sept. 16.
Beatlegras, which covers Beatles tunes with a bluegrass, jazz, classical twist, opens part two of the series. The band drops the downbeat at 7 p.m., Sept. 16, at the open-air amphitheater on the Arboretum grounds. Gates open at 6 p.m.
Concertgoers, as usual, can bring in picnic dinners and coolers to the show or they can purchase food and beverages on site.
Individual tickets cost $8 for Arboretum members and $16 for prospective members. Other ticket packages, including season passes, are available online.
Next on the Cool Thursdays lineup comes Briefcase Blues, a Blues Brothers cover act, followed by Dallas Unlimited; Cuvee, a disco ensemble; Petty Theft, a Tom Petty tribute group fronted by The Ticket’s own Mike Rhyner’ Mickey and the Motorcars; and M80s.
Really, though … Beatles with a bluegrass twang? I will refrain from pronouncing it blasphemy until I see them.
