Raising the alert
by Bruce Felps
The postal person today delivered a postcard, the likes of which I don’t recall having seen before.
It came from the Texas Department of Public Safety — and hey, I paid my debt to society — and it warned of a potentially high risk sex offender in the neighborhood.
A man named Brian Christopher Rogerson apparently moved into the neighborhood at 5900 Lewis St. He’s listed as a high risk sex offender, accused, maybe convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a 13-year-old child.
The state described him as a white 36-year-old, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds, with brown hair, and blue eyes.
He goes by multiple names, according to the state, including Brian C. Owens, Brian Owens, Brian Christopher Owens, Chris Owens, and Christopher Owens, and I detect a pattern emerging here.
I called the department to ask if this guy were on the lamb, failed to reregister, or had committed a subsequent offense, and they said no, it’s simply a courtesy to alert folks in a three-block radius of a registered offender’s new residence.
Consider yourselves alerted.

Here’s another 2 cents…. one of my favorite websites is http://WWW.familywatchdog.us Enter an offenders name and state, you’ll get a picture of him (or her) details, alias and convictions. Also, enter in your street and a map will come up with thousands of little red squares. Guess what that represents? Each square is a sex offender living right next door or in your area. It just goes to show you, there is no justice.

It would be even better if ‘they’ could send us postcards about these bad guys BEFORE they abuse our kids. Oh well, wishful thinking.
