Although the Fourth of July parades in Lakewood, Lake Highlands, and Little Forest Hills take place July 3, the annual fireworks show from Lakewood Country Club burst forth July 4 starting about 9 p.m.

Stake out a vantage point across the street at Whole Foods-Lakewood and partake of a few preliminaries to the main event.

The grocer offers its second annual Party in the Parking Lot from 5-10 p.m., July 4, at the Gaston Avenue-Abrams Road neighborhood location.

It includes a concert by the Hash Brown Blues Band from 5-8 p.m., plenty of food and drink — and if it’s akin to the Whole Foods spread during Lakewoodstock, it’s good eatin’ and cheap buyin’.

Parking in the lot, first-come first-served, is reserved for folks who shop the store, but lawn chairs and blankets — and the people lounging in and on them — are welcome in the open areas.
