Community Contribution
Lakehill Preparatory School sophomore Hannah McCue, a Lakewood resident, served recently as the school’s representative during the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership, or HOBY, seminar.
Nearly 200 students, representing schools from across North Texas, attended the seminar, which took place at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
During the four-day conference, students were challenged to empower, lead, and excel. At the closing ceremony, McCue was one of only 24 students honored as a HOBY All-Star for her participation and leadership during the seminar.
HOBY programs give students the opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences.
HOBY Ambassadors, the name given to the participants, are selected as because they have demonstrated the potential to lead others.
Ambassadors are encouraged to use their new knowledge and leadership skills when they return home by seeking out volunteer opportunities, making positive changes in their community, and inspiring others to do the same.
Thanks to Gigi Ekstrom, Lakehill’s director of marketing, for providing the words and picture.
