Ellison snags second book award
By Bruce Felps
Darlene Ellison absorbed a powerful body blow about five years ago when the FBI arrested for pedophilia the man to whom she was married.
She turned her pain from self-pity into a mission to help other families avoid, recognize, or deal with similar situations.
She wrote the book “The Predator Next Door” partly as a coping mechanism and partly as a way to help others, and about a year ago won the Gold 2009 National Independent Publisher Book Award for best true crime story.
Late last month she scored award No. 2 when the Book Expo of America tabbed it with the 2010 Next Generation Indie Book Award in the autobiography category.
A woman of strength, talent, and magnanimity, and oh yea, she lives and works right here in the community.
