No-drive zones

By Bruce Felps

Lakewoodstock fires up tomorrow at noon — come rain or come shine — at Lakewood Shopping Center and most points in the surrounding area, but you already knew that.

What you might not know, until now, anyway, concerns the street closings in the area. Well, sir, here, in the organizers’ own hand — or fingertips, as the case may be — is the word:

South End:
7:30 a.m. — We will close the south end of Abrams Parkway from La Vista to Abrams/Columbia. This area includes the Diener/Mills parking lot and the parking lot from Centennial to Lakewood Theater.

10 a.m. — We will close La Vista from Gaston to Abrams. We will also close Abrams Parkway from Gaston to La Vista. This includes the parking lots for Starbucks on La Vista and the Donut Palace on Abrams Parkway. We will post signs informing customers of the street closure.

North End:
7:30 a.m. — We will close off the northbound lane of Abrams Parkway from Gaston to the turn out onto Abrams [Road]. We will keep the southbound lane open.

10 a.m. — We will close off the southbound lane from Prospect to Gaston.

The Colliers International property parking lots from Dixie House to Ace Hardware along Gaston and the east lot along Abrams from Ace Hardware to Ali Baba will be marked with signage stating parking for business customers and tenants only. No event parking.

I know I’ll be walking over. Might as well. Probably couldn’t park about any closer than my house anyway.

I walked from home, too. Had a fun few hours and almost brought home a new dog… LOL… you know I’m looking, right? But I wasn’t prepared to walk two dogs back home in the heat of the day. I’m still considering him tho!

Unfortunately, I recieved a call today from the volunteer. The dog I was interested in… and the dog my girl was VERY interested in is not available. Current owner was moving and has decided to place him with a friend instead. Wednesday is an exciting day tho… I’m meeting another that I hope my gal takes the same shine to.

But wow… filling out an adoption application is worse than doing taxes! Geez… I’m surprised they don’t want to know such obscure things such as how well I like my steak cooked! Or if I even eat steak!
