Plotting a Course
Administrators at Woodrow Wilson High School need to set next school year’s staffing assignments, teacher headcount, and the master schedule, and a big part of the process stems from students’ course selection sheets for the 2010-11 school calendar.
The course selection process is under way now, with this year’s freshmen setting their sophomore courses for the next week or so.
This year’s sophomores and juniors — next year’s juniors and seniors — begin their course selection starting tomorrow, April 1, no fooling, and wrap it up April 9.
Woodrow counselors set up daytime hours to meet with parents to discuss the course selection. Remaining hours run this afternoon, March 31, from 3:45-4:45; and again April 1 from 8:15-9:15 a.m., and 3:45-4:45 p.m.
The course choice sheet can be found online, and each student is required to select courses that total eight periods — a yearlong selection equals one period and a one-semester course equals one-half a period.
According to a letter written by Associate Principal Dinnah Escanilla, school officials “highly discourage course changes as it affects the entire scheduling process and deadlines.”
Choose wisely, Grasshopper.
