Bunny Board Set to Rock Easter

The Newellian Easter Parade is not your father's Easter Parade.
— By Bruce Felps
The Newellian Bunny Board of Hollywood-Santa Monica does things in a different manner from, say, ordinary people. That’s just the way they like it.
They loose their unique brand of fun and madness Easter Sunday during the Very Fifth Ever Newellian Easter Parade, which rolls at 3 p.m., April 4, along Newell Avenue. Everyone in East Dallas is welcome to attend and to enter a float in the parade.
The parade entry fee costs two dozen candy- or toy-filled plastic eggs. The Bunny Board encourages parade participants and spectators — and their children and pets — to dress up in whatever costume strikes the imagination.
The parade after-party for neighborhood residents includes Easter egg hunts, starting about 3:15 p.m., for children divided among three age groups, plus an adult version of the hunt, which should be interesting.
The deviled egg-off competition starts about 3:45 p.m., with prizes awarded for the best presentation, the best tasting, and the best in show. Bring enough for judging and to share.
Then comes the big hoopla. The band drops the downbeat at about 4 p.m., and the organizers supply the food and drinks. Kids play in the obligatory bounce house, and everyone has the opportunity to have photos taken with curiouser and curiouser bunnies.
This event is major fun.
