Incarnating the Carnival
The Incarnation Academy, affiliated with the Church of the Incarnation, presents its Spring Carnival and Silent Auction in less than a month.
The event takes place — rain or shine — from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., April 24, at the academy. It’s geared toward kids ages 6 and younger, and includes a petting zoo, pony rides, the obligatory bounce house, a train ride, and balloon animals.
The auction contains stuff for adults and children. Items up for bid include gift certificates to area restaurants, children’s activities, spa services, and vacation getaways.
The auction is free save for bids, particularly the winning ones, and wristbands granting unlimited admission to games cost $20 in advance or $22 at the carnival entrance. Food and drinks are a la cart. Contact the church office for more information.
The academy and church, while located on the west side of Central Expressway, come with a strong East Dallas flavor.
Leigh Straughn, who provided the information on the carnival, lives in Lakewood. Micah Crissey, director of child care ministries, resides in Lake Highlands as does Nursery Supervisor Jill Bellew. Jessica Therivel, PTA president and auction chairwoman, lives in Vickery Place, and about 75 percent of the academy enrollment travel westward across Central from East Dallas to attend classes, according to Straughn.
So, there you have it.
